Saskatchewan Roughriders' head coach Corey Mace provided an injury update regarding Samuel Emilus' status for his team's Week 9 match-up against the Montreal Alouettes.

“It's going to be kind of tough for Sam probably this week,” Mace said. “We've been in this situation before, but we'll get more information.”

The setback for Emilus occurred during the Riders Week 8 game against the Edmonton Elks as Saskatchewan won 21-18. He left in the fourth quarter with a knee issue after making six receptions for 113 yards with one touchdown. It's the second injury suffered by Emilus this season, initially he sustained a foot injury in Week 2 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and did not return to action until Week 7 against the B.C. Lions.

The six-foot, 200-pound receiver has suited up in four games for the Green and White this season, recording 20 receptions for 361 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Mace provided another update about veteran American receiver Shawn Bane Jr.

“I think it's more making sure that he's fully confident. He caught a nice pass today, it was awesome to see,” Mace detailed. “Doing our due diligence and making sure that all the stars align from that standpoint.”

Bane Jr., has not played for the Riders since he suffered a season-ending knee injury last year against the Ottawa Redblacks when he tore his LCL and partially tore his ACL. When Bane eventually returns to the game day lineup, Mace knows he will have an some roster decisions to make.

“We'll always look to see what the best match-up is for us. We feel, like I said from training camp, really good about the receiver depth,” Mace said. “Certainly Shawn’s a part of that, so we'll see how it lines up. I wouldn't be shocked if he's making plays like he did in his entire career at some point in the season and when that time comes, he'll be ready.”

The Green and White hop on a plane to travel to Montreal and take on the Alouettes on Saturday. Teagan Witko, Justin Dunk and Wes Cates bring to you the pre-game show at 2 p.m. Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder have the game call at 5 p.m. You can hear extensive coverage on the 620 CKRM Co-operators Rider Broadcast Network.
