Second-year Saskatchewan Roughriders' receiver KeeSean Johnson wants to continue improving after a 100-yard receiving effort against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 2.

"Keep asking guys that have been here; there are guys in the room that have been in the league for five, six years," Johnson told colour analyst Luc Mullinder on the Riders Broadcast Network 5th Quarter post-game show. "You got to lean on those guys and ask those guys questions. No matter my past or whatever it may have been, I got to look at this like it's something new and I'm still learning."

Johnson led all Riders' receivers against the Ticats in a 28-23 win. He recorded eight receptions for 124 yards and one touchdown.

"That's a good football team. We can't take anything for granted. Look where it came down to, it came down to the wire," Johnson reflected. "That's a good football team, we have to keep striving for our team and push each other."

Roughriders' head coach Corey Mace believes Johnson's performance against the Ticats showcased how he can be an elite player in the CFL.

“We see this guy all the time. I thought towards the back end of last year, people started to kind of see. That's what it looks like. He could be a premier receiver on the team,” Mace said post-game. “Trevor's going to find the right guy. He made himself available and made some big plays for us. It's not a shock if you look at what he's done in his college and his pro career to this point.”

The relationship between quarterback Trevor Harris and Johnson continues to grow in year two of the partnership.

"We work hard at practice, I try to talk to him as much as I can in the meeting rooms and the field," Johnson said. "After a play, if it doesn't go the way we want it to go: what can we do differently here from quarterback to receiver? We're going to try to continue to push and strive for greatness."

It's Johnson's second year in the CFL. Last season, he played in 12 games for the Green and White, recording 56 receptions for 746 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The Green and White travel to Toronto on Friday to take on the Argonauts. Catch the pre-game show with Teagan Witko, Justin Dunk and Wes Cates at 2:30 p.m. while Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder will have the call at 5:30 p.m. You can hear everything on the 620 CKRM Co-operators Rider Broadcast Network.
