Notice of Passing Zoning By-law Amendment

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Ramara passed By-law  2025.18 on March 24, 2025 under Sections 34 and 39 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13. This  Bylaw amends the Township of Ramara Zoning Bylaw 2005.85, as amended.

Purpose and Effect: 

The purpose of By-law 2025.18 is to extend the Temporary Backyard Chickens By-law 2022.54, which was a municipal-led Zoning By-law Amendment passed on June 27, 2022, amending Zoning  By-law 2005.85. By-law 2022.54 permits the temporary establishment of backyard chickens (laying  hens) subject to certain provisions on lots zoned Village Residential (VR), Hamlet and Rural  Countryside Residential (RCR) for three years, which expires on June 27, 2025.  

By-law 2025.18 extends the permissions for backyard chickens for an additional three (3) years, to  June 27, 2028. 

A Key Map is not provided in this notice as this by-law applies to all properties with the Village  Residential (VR), Hamlet (H) and Rural and Countryside Residential (RCR) zonings.

Appeal process: 

No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the  zoning amendments were adopted, the person or public body made oral submissions at a public  meeting or written submissions to the council or, in the opinion of the Ontario Land Tribunal, there are  reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. 

Subsection 34(19) of the Planning Act defines the parties that are eligible to appeal the decision to  the Ontario Land Tribunal.

If you are eligible and intend to appeal this zoning by-law, a Notice of Appeal must be filed with the  Township Clerk, Corporation of the Township of Ramara, 2297 Highway 12, PO Box 130, Brechin ON  L0K 1B0 no later than 20 days from the date of this Notice for each by-law and shall include:

  1. The reasons for the appeal and the specific part of the proposed Zoning By-law amendment to  which the appeal applies. 
  2. A completed A1 Appellant Form. This form is to be completed by the appellant for appeals  relating to the Zoning By-law amendment and is available on the Ontario Land Tribunal website
  3. The applicable fee made payable to the “Minister of Finance” 

The last day for filing a Notice of Appeal is 4:30p.m. on April 24, 2025
