UTILITY ARBORIST

Under the general direction of the Supervisor, or delegate, the incumbent will be responsible for performing all vegetation management activities undertaken by the Company, including but not limited to right-of-way clearing and maintenance, line clearing, contract monitoring, outage planning, right-of-way condition assessment, assisting in unplanned outage response, maintenance and operations of tools and equipment.

The Utility Arborist will ensure all work assigned is performed efficiently and will have a high regard for health, safety and the environment, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures and standards; must be capable of identifying workplace hazards and be able to utilize all reasonable barriers to ensure safe work performance.

The ideal candidate will have following qualifications:
• Certification as a Utility Arborist, having obtained the 444B Certificate of Qualification
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working as a Utility Arborist
• Good working knowledge of general operational aspects of distribution systems
• Must be physically able to perform the essential duties in all weather conditions
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of equipment, standards, and practices applicable to utility arborist work
• Must have excellent working knowledge of all applicable Provincial Safety Regulations, Provincial Environmental Regulations, Electrical and Utility safety rules and safe work guidelines
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR and WHMIS
• Possess and maintain a valid DZ driver’s license with an excellent driving record
• Ability to read and interpret documentation pertinent to the work (i.e. instructions, prints, drawings, sketches, operating diagrams, work protection documents, etc.).
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Must have an industrious work ethic, and proven ability/flexibility to work in a team environment
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills in maintaining effective working relationships
• Good working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
