Neck Pain Relief

Neck Pain is a common alignment I treat regularly. Sometimes the neck pain can occur from many different causes:

-sitting at a computer for work every day
-driving for a living or long distances
-being on phones too long
-waking up with a stiff neck
-car accidents
-sport/exercise accident
-etc...

The picture above demonstrates a patient who woke up with a stiff sore neck one morning. She indicated to me where the pain was and where it was traveling to (the base of the skull down the side of her neck to the top of her shoulders).

In this acute situation I advised her to come in for 4-6 treatments and to keep the treatments close together. The morning after her first treatment she said one side felt 90% better while the other side felt 80% better. Her response to treatment was pleasantly faster than expected. After her 4th treatment she was fully recovered.

With any type of acute pain it is always best to do a number of treatments close together to get ahead of the pain. The aim of acupuncture is to stimulate systemic beta endorphins (the body’s natural opioids for pain relieve) as well as systemic anti inflammatory factor. Also we want to release the muscles and promote good blood circulation.

We also added some massage and cupping to each of her treatments which help relieve the muscles and promote circulation in the area.

If you or someone you know comes down with an acute injury or strain or has a chronic problem give acupuncture a try.
