Bay Mills Indian Community is proud to announce the return of the Superior Whitefish Festival, taking place July 26th – 27th, 2025. This exciting event will celebrate the deep cultural, historical, and economic significance of whitefish and the vital role of treaty fishing rights in preserving our way of life.
Whitefish has long been a staple in Anishinaabe communities, sustaining our people for generations and serving as a cornerstone of our traditions, economy, and food sovereignty. The festival will honor this legacy while also highlighting the importance of protecting our treaty-reserved rights to fish in the waters of the Great Lakes—rights that were secured by our ancestors and continue to be essential to our community’s well-being. Plus, who doesn't love a good whitefish sandwich!
Join us for a weekend filled with cultural demonstrations, delicious whitefish meals, family-friendly activities, competitions, and live entertainment. Whether you are a community member, a fisher, or simply someone who appreciates the rich history and traditions of our people, we invite you to come celebrate with us.
More details on the event schedule and activities will be announced soon—stay tuned!
