Farmers were looking skyward for rain as May ended.

Some local farmers are amazed crops are emerging, while one said the weeds aren’t even emerging.

“The big question is do we sell what we have in the bins now or wait?’’ he said.

Little rain fell in the week ended May 26, according to the Saskatchewan Agriculture crop report.

Pense received 10 mm with 13 mm near Moose Jaw. Trace amounts fell in parts of the south country.

Across the province, cropland topsoil moisture is rated 32 per cent adequate, 48 per cent short and 10 per cent very short.

In the Moose Jaw area, cropland moisture is 39 per cent adequate with the rest short.

Crop growth is behind usual across the province.
