Political candidates will discuss the future of farming in Saskatchewan as part of a special election forum.

The Agricultural Producers of Saskatchewan (APAS) is launching the Growing Agriculture: 2020 Saskatchewan Provincial Election Forum today, Oct. 19.

During the forum, political candidates will respond to questions about agriculture. Shaun Haney of RealAgriculture will moderate a producer panel to discuss and debate the responses.

Topics will look at improving rural internet and cellphone service, supporting the next generation of farmers, responsible agricultural water management, and more.

“This forum is a great way to highlight the importance of Saskatchewan agriculture leading up to the provincial election,” said APAS President Todd Lewis. “Good agricultural policy is crucial if agriculture is to remain the driver of our economy, and we need our political candidates to understand that.”

You can also watch the forum online at RealAgriculture.com, starting at 6 p.m. from Oct. 19 to 25. Viewers who have AccessNow TV can tune in Oct. 19-21 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 9:30 to 11 p.m. and on Oct. 22-25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

APAS has partnered with the Saskatchewan Farm Stewardship Association and Access Communications for the forum. It is sponsored by Saskatchewan Egg Producers, Saskatchewan Pork Development Board, Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission, and the Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association.

More information is available on the APAS website.
