Events and gatherings of all sizes are being postponed due to COVID-19 and that now includes an agricultural conference scheduled for next week.

The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) has announced they will postpone their midterm Policy Conference that was scheduled for March 16-17 in Saskatoon.

The announcement comes hours after the province reported its first presumptive case of COVID-19 in Saskatoon.

“Our goal is to help reduce the potential spread of infection amongst our members and the general public,” said APAS President Todd Lewis in a press release. “Our members would have been traveling from small communities across the province for this event, and we want to minimize the potential spread of infection as much as possible.”

APAS says the decision was made after other large-scale events in the province, such as the Junos, have been canceled due to concerns over the potential spread of COVID-19.

Other APAS operations will continue as normal.
