UPDATED: Expect detours as vehicle catches fire near CAA building

The intersection of Caribou Street West and First Avenue Northwest is now open and no further traffic delays are in place

UPDATE:

The fire is now extinguished and the vehicle has been removed from the location. 

The traffic detour is no longer in effect and the area is once again open to the motoring public.


Just before 2 p.m. on the afternoon of Jan. 25, a blue car parked along Caribou Street West erupted in flames, causing a temporary traffic detour in the area.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed and no further details have been confirmed at this time.

The fire occurred in a parking spot near the CAA Saskatchewan building, located at 80 Caribou Street West.

The vehicle appears to have been parked at the time of the incident and nobody appears to be in or near the vehicle. EMS crews were not present on scene, indicating that the owner may not have been with the vehicle or was able to safely exit the vehicle.

The Moose Jaw Fire Department and Moose Jaw Police Service are currently on scene.

Please be advised that residents can expect temporary traffic detours in the area. This includes the zero and 100 block of Caribou Street West and along First Avenue Northwest.
